University of Texas at Tyler
The University of Texas at Tyler’s Engineering, Science and Technology facility opened in 2006.
It consists of two buildings totaling 148,000 square feet, as well as an additional central utility plant that increased the campus total HVAC capacity for future needs.
These two buildings include several laboratory facilities, lecture halls and classrooms. The project incorporates complex plumbing and HVAC systems to fit the facility’s specific needs, such as clean rooms, chemical storage and mechanical engineering laboratories. The new buildings and central plant are linked with the existing campus HVAC system with huge underground piping distribution systems installed below the level of existing adjacent lakes, which made managing the groundwater levels during construction an exceptional challenge.
